Resources for  Walkers in the New Forest

In addition to joining the New Forest Group on rambles, you may want to plan your own walk in the forest. Here are some useful resources:-

Walks Around the New Forest National Park (5th edition)
A book of 17 walks with sketch maps were created by members of the New Forest Group

Ordinance Survey map OL22
The 1:25000 map of the New Forest - available at bookshops etc.

Crossing the A35
The main Christchurch - Lydhurst (A35) road is a busy road, so it pays to pick a good crossing point. For those planning a walk which crosses the A35 between Bank and Wilverley Post, information on stiles and gates could be useful.   Click here for the Ordnance Survey map of the area and details, with photos, of each crossing place.

Map of Forestry England car parks

The map shows all the Forestry England car parks in the New Forest.  While all these are suitable for the independent walker, the smaller ones do not have enough parking space for group walks.  Forestry England are introducing charges for car parking.
